CEF3 1916 64-bit Build skewed rendering

Postby schetle » Mon Aug 18, 2014 11:17 pm

Mac CEF3 1916 Branch 64-bit build has SEVERE graphics tearing, and slowness when the --disable-gpu flag is passed to it. This was not present in 1750.

In the Xcode Debug configuration, when the cefclient window is resized to a medium or large size, the HTML rendering stops completely.
In Xcode Release configuration, when cefclient is resized to a medium or large size, the rendering is extremely skewed.

I've attached a screenshot of cefclient built with the release configuration and the --disable-gpu parameter passed to it. Running on OSX 10.9.4.

In addition to the build from cefbuilds.com showing this behavior, building cef3 1916 branch and 35.0.1916.138 on my system with ninja shows the same results.

Any clues?

Interesting, and it does absolutely sound like that issue.

It's worth noting that I use the --disable-gpu flag in order to prevent the application from using my Nvidia graphics controller (and thus save battery life) and to instead use the integrated graphics. It works fine when on the Nvidia but when it's running on integrated graphics, it has rendering issues.

When you tested it, was the app using your dedicated card or integrated (--disable-gpu)?

I can at least go on record with this info in the issue, if needed.

I wasn't able to reproduce the problem. It's likely a bug in Chromium and/or video device drivers. Does the problem reproduce with Google Chrome v35?
