The application was unable to start correctly (0x80000003)

Postby sburke » Thu Jun 08, 2017 3:28 pm

I built and launched CEF using the instructions from https://bitbucket.org/chromiumembedded/ ... ckStart.md. Then I changed the GN_DEFINES environment variable from is_official_build=true proprietary_codecs=true ffmpeg_branding="Chrome" to is_official_build=true proprietary_codecs=true ffmpeg_branding=Chrome (note the removed quotes). Then I regenerated the project files and rebuilt Chromium. Now when I attempt to launch, it generates an error that reads, "The application was unable to start correctly (0x80000003). Click OK to close the application." Has anybody seen this behavior?

Failed to mention, this happened with the 64-bit Debug version.

Are you running EMET? Apparently EMET and Norton are very presently incompatible. Uninstall EMET and see if that helps.

For the record, when you tried to uninstall EMET, you got an "Error opening installation log file" message. I have no idea if this error is related to the 0x80000003 problem

No, I'm not running EMET. I ended up building a 32-bit version that is working fine. At this point I've abandoned 64-bit. Will have to tackle this if-and-when I return to the 64-bit effort.

Has anyone looked into this?

I'm getting this error on both cefclient and cefsimple when doing a debug 64 bit build using the component and fastlink flag.

Before I added the component flag, this would occur for cefclient but not cefsimple.

I'm now trying a 64 bit release build and will see if this persists there, however support on this would be very welcome!
