Proprietary codec support after build

Postby hendrikOne23 » Tue Feb 13, 2018 7:17 am

Hi,

so the way I understand it, CEF can't distribute builds with proprietary codec support and you have to specifically enable it during build.
However the build process takes a lot of time and resources, so it is not feasible to simply distribute the builder and build on the target system.
So I was wondering if it is possible to add proprietary codec support to the pre-built binaries in the form of a separately downloaded library?
As far as I can tell, you can download the codecs online for free. Are there any legal issues with automatically downloading the codecs and is it
possible to add proprietary codec support after building?

Wait so according to this mp3 is no longer considered proprietary. So does that mean CEF now supports mp3 out of the box? If so, what version do I have to download?

MP3 will be supported in Chromium 65. It's not available for download yet.
