Unable to compile using VS 2005 Professional

Postby robodna » Wed Jan 23, 2013 1:48 pm

Hi,

I'm able to compile and run the cefclient project using VS 2005 Professional, but I had to add a VS configuration item to 'ignore atlthunk.lib' to get it to compile. If compiles in Debug mode, but not in Release mode. I added the same 'ignore' directive to the VS config, but it still complains: 'cannot open input file 'atlthunk.lib'...

Any ideas?

I did see that post, but it did not help, and was not definitive in answering the issue... Should I install WDK?

I can't say for sure that it will solve your problem, but it's unlikely to hurt.

Installing WDK did not help, but then again, the WDK package did not produce the atlthunk.lib file as per the recommendation. Why would such a critical library be so difficult to locate or install?

Do you have multiple versions of VS installed, or perhaps not do a full install? AFAIK the atlthunk problem should only exist with express versions.

I installed VS 2012 Express first, but could not compile, so I found my VS 2005 Professional an installed it on Wndows 7. I installed WDK 8 and 7.1, but still no atlthunk.lib file anywhere on my hard drive :(

Still can't get the cefclient project to compile in VS 2005 Professional, or VS 2012 Express... I'll still try to get it to compile on my spare time, but unfortunately, we had to move on as it is unusable for us at this moment for production. I think a must would be to have precise instructions on how to compile the cefclient project in VS 2012 Express. In its current state, one needs to concoct a solution to get it to work. Searching Google yields many other with similar issues... A project of this caliber deserves to compile without fuss in VS 2012 Express.

Update: I removed the reference to atlthunk.lib and it compiles... is it even required?
