CEF1 - Indicating secure page

Postby Zyrca » Fri Feb 01, 2013 10:26 am

Greetings,

We are using CEF embedded into a game and will be accepting payment via PayPal through it (among other payment methods) - so I need to be able to determine if I've got a secure connection to the site. Basically, I need to be able to know if I could display the equivalent of Chrome's green lock button or not.

For issue 345, I patched our CEF to reject requests with SSL errors instead of ignore them, but I'm not sure what the right way to determine that a site is, indeed, secure, and would greatly appreciate any pointers on the subject.

Thanks,
-Heather

I would suggest looking at the Chromium source code to determine how they decide whether to show the green lock button. I am not a lawyer but you might want to consider the liability, if any, of processing payments in your application. It may be better to open a payment link externally in the user's default browser.
