Build CEF3 with OpenH264 support

Postby marquedej » Mon Mar 30, 2015 12:57 pm

I am trying to build CEF3 (branch 2171) with support for Cicso's OpenH264 codec (binary).

While I can build CEF3 without issues, the ffmpegsumo.dll that gets built does not support the OpenH264 binaries.

I have tried building with "PROPRIETARY_CODECS=1" as well as without, to no avail.

Has anyone been able to build CEF3 with support for Cisco's OpenH264 codec? If so, how did you succeed?

Thanks,

Hi,

I have searched these forums, the chromium-dev mailing list, and other places for an answer to this question and have not found anything that addresses it.

My final goal is to be able to use Cisco's OpenH264 freely distributable binaries with my project.

The best-case scenario would be the ability to drop the OpenH264 binary/dll file into the same folder where ffmpegsumo.dll resides.

This would mean that ffmpegsumo would know to access the OpenH264 dll when decoding (and, possibly, encoding) mpeg streams.

Is this possible?
Has anyone successfully accomplished this?

Any hints are gratefully accepted.

Thanks,

It is not currently possible and I'm not aware of anyone who has attempted it. Since it would require changes primarily to ffmpeg you should probably bring it up in a forum related to that project.

Hi

In latest cef3 build 2357, OpenH264 is included in ffmpeg source code (libopenh264enc.c).
My doubt is how to compile cef3 with openh264 enabled? where should I specify or configure --enable-libopenh264 for compiling ffmpeg with libopenh264 library.

Thanks

See third_party/ffmpeg/README.chromium as a starting point.

@marquedej

Were you been able to build CEF with Cisco's openh264 binary .dll file?

Hi @marquedej,

Are you able to build Cef with OpenH264 and run it in C# winforms/WPF?
